"This file cabinet looks great and I found it was easy to assemble.Similar to IKEA, but I thought the printed instructions were easier than IKEA instructions.I liked that they put stickers on each wooden piece so you know which is which. However the stickers were hard to get off and left a bit of a sticky residue. That's the one improvement I'd make. "I needed to add a mobile file cabinet to one I purchased about nine years as I was expanding an office. I wanted to create an illusion of consistancy in the pattern of furniture. I looked to Amazon to offer the full range of file cabinets on the market without going downtown. I was not disapponted. The exact same model that I neededdown to the casters and the dimensions were offered at, believe it or not, almost the same price as nine years ago. The only difference is that the now I had an additional choice of color: Petwer/Black in addition to White. I hope you can tell that I am delighted with my purcahse. This is a quality product that arrived in sturdy, rugid containers protecting the cabinet from the stresses of shipping. The instructions were clear and a snap to set up. It is quality piece of construction that will last many years. Moreover, it is able to be dressed up to accomodate lamps, plants, and pictures in your typical office/work environment. "I was trying to match a desk I bought at a local furniture store--saw the brand name and the "Carolina Oak" and had to try. It matched perfectly, was packaged well, and went together pretty easily. " – Sarah L. Anderson

"It's a filing cabinet... it arrived in perfect condition and is well built. Not a bad price compared with some of the alternatives. " – Collin Almquist "Collin"

"The file drawer was relatively simple to assemble. However, one of the drawers was cracked where the side panels dovetail into the drawer face. The wood was actually broken. This was not something that occurred in shipping, after inpspection, I could see that small nails were driven in such a way to prevent a good dovetail and the assembler at the factory simply tried to jam it in, thus cracking the wood. Also, the bottom file door does not close flush. It protrudes approx 1/4 inch;. It is too much of a hassle to ship back so, with the assistance of liquid nails and some rigging, I'll live with it; altho', I will be cautious in what I oreder online... " – JLT "JLT"

"A previous review said that the wheel-screws didn't fit, which made me hesitate to buy it.Turns out the reviewer was wrong-They are "self-tapping" screws, and they work just fine. Also, one should be aware that two of the wheels have locks, to prevent rolling. If you find your cabinet doesn't roll right, one or both of these might be locked. "The cabinet is nice looking, took way too long to put together and the drawers don't close right, but all in all meets the need. " – Brett Brockett

"The file cabinet is a sturdy, nicely made piece. The delivery was timely, although, the cabinet was slightly dented during shipping. " – NJ

"When I purchased this for my office I failed to measure the depth of the drawer. When it arrived the bars were much too long, a good 4in past the adjustable part. A coworker was able to use pliers to hold bar in place and bent the bar back and forth until it was the correct length. Super easy to adjust (even with my lack of measuring) and they work great. "This finally answers all the needs for someone who has a large abount of CD's they want to keep up with...
This box can hold paper covers and slimline or full CD's easily and in the same drawer. It is a solid box not the flemsy plastic containers we have all settled for... if you want something good buy this... it is well worth the extra expence... " – Robert Blake "advancedbc"
With the use of the computer, printers, scanners, and other gadgets, it looks like the old-fashioned file cabinets have outlived their usefulness. Surprisingly, many offices, even corporations of the highest tier, continue to file their documents in those traditional drawer cabinets.
Many people say that filing in cabinets would only entail a lot of space. It will occupy a lot of space considering that these cabinets are big. It will also involve a lot of time considering that you will be physically filing the documents, putting them inside folders and fastening them. While if they use the electronic filing system, all they have to do is to organize their files in the computer.

"Amazing purchase. I looked at Office Depot, Han and, Staples and all were substandard at twice the price. Incredible quality for the price. Han is also good but this lateral is even better quality overall than than HAN and biff in the $349-$599 price range. I am buying another just so I have two if I need another.
Outstanding product.

"This is a wonderful, high-quality file cabinet. It arrived very quickly and was extremely well-protected in its box. There was no assembly other than inserting the wheels. It's sharp looking and very functional. One wheel locks to prevent movement and it is stabilized to prevent tipping.I could not have asked for a better mobile file cabinet. " – M. A. Pikulas

"My wife and I decided to get this cart since most other similar products were in the $50 price range. I regret it! Although this cart has a hanging file organizer, it's really cheap! One of the wheels clicks when I move it, and it is honestly is so flimsy that I can not move it easily when it is full of files. I'm partly afraid it's going to break and come apart if I move it around my office. One other surprise, there is no "back", the drawers move all the way through. I know it could be argued as a feature, but when someone pushes a drawer in, it can come out and fall off on the other side... Consequently, I can't help but feel that this product is cheap, weak, and not worth the extra $.

"This was exactly what I needed to keep my 3x5 cards for our business. The only complaint we had was it can easily tip off the shelf if you pull the drawer out to get to the back of the drawer. Not a big deal. Overall very pleased. " – Lnewby

"My workplace has used these cabinets for years, and when need arose to have a file cabinet at home, I chose this one on the criteria that it might just survive a cross-country move. The build quality is fantastic, the drawers solid and smooth. There's no "booming" or flexing in the side panels like with less expensive file cabinets--it behaves like a solid piece of furniture. It comes with a drawer partition for either of the top two drawers as well as an organizer tray. You can have wheels (two of which can lock) or no wheels.
The 19" depth is perfect beside a 22" deep computer desk.It stands flush, with room for a power strip behind to hide all of the black spaghetti. " – K. Barrett

"It arrived promptly and was easy to install. It's a good heavy weight and feels very secure. Originally I was looking for the type that slides down the handles but that type was almost double the price and then you'd be installing and removing it each day. This is easy to open and close and you never have to store it during work hours--it stays attached. We would definitely buy this product in the future. We also bought the padlock by the same manufacturer that was recommended. It has a heavy and secure feel to it also. " – Marsha Vaughn "mvon"

"In my limited experience, the whitmoor metal shelving is on par with metro at a much lower price-point. This cart is sturdy and works quite well for me except for one flaw I unfortunately found.
It was too late by the time I found out that my cart, with approximately 40lbs of weight on it, left tracks all over my hardwood. Upon inspection, it was easy to see that the wheels have a small lip on the inside of them from coming out of a mold. So instead of having an inch surface distributing the weight they had a fraction of an inch lip taking the weight and digging down into my floor. This was certainly unexpected and my new flooring is certainly now flawed to the visible eye.
While I could possibly try to sand down the lip, I now just use my cart as a stand instead. Live, learn, share. " – P. Hart
Actually, it really depends on the need of the organization. However, a problem would occur if the computer is down and you need to get a copy of a document. Since you can not access the file, you have to wait until the computer will be repaired! There is even a chance of your files getting lost if the file can not be retrieved.
There are problems too, if you opt for the traditional filing system. One would be choosing the right kind of filing cabinet. This can be solved by determining the type of document you are to file, as well as the number of documents that need to be filed.
If there is a huge bulk of documents to be filed, it would be advisable to opt for the 3 drawer file cabinet. This is because many documents can be accommodated in such a cabinet, and it occupies less space than the one with only 2 drawers. This is because these 3 drawers are stacked on top of each other, maximizing the space that you have. We are all well aware that space is a valuable commodity in any workplace.
There are also different types or make of filing cabinets. There are the wooden cabinets and the aluminum ones. If you are thinking of putting up an office in your house, a wooden type cabinet is the best choice. It can add up to the design of a homey effect in your house. You can even match the color of the wood to the color of your other furniture. If you are putting the filing cabinets in the office, the best one would be the aluminum filing cabinets. It is made of stainless steel and therefore, its durability is assured. Considering that you have to keep on opening the drawers to retrieve files, and closing them, then, the cabinets have to be sturdy. If you opt for wooden cabinets and you keep on opening them, chances are they would easily get destroyed. Furthermore, steel cabinets are lighter to open compared to wooden cabinets.
The 3 drawer file cabinet is the best option to choose from if you are thinking of buying a cabinet for the office that requires several documents to be filed. It will definitely save up on space.
