"This timer worked ok and seemed to be fairly reliable about turning on and off while it worked. It didn't have as many settings as I had hoped it would. However, all the fittings and any piping is made of cheap, brittle plastic. I was moving a hose in the yard and the thing just snapped off the facet, and when I examined it the plastic was broken. This top fitting and pipe should really be metal since the length and rigidness of the timer puts a lot of stress there. I was very disappointed. I have had it less than a month! " – Jennifer R. "This summer we had two hoses to water two different trees.We had to stretch one from the front of our house to reach one of the trees in the back since we only have one water hookup in our backyard.This product eliminated the need to stretch the hose from the front.The timer has also saved us about $100 so far considering we always forget to turn the water off because we get busy doing other things.Several days we have forgotten to turn it off until the next morning but this product did exactly what it was supposed to and shut it off automatically.I love it!! "This timer works as advertised. Programming is limited but simple to do. It has a nice slow-closing valve, so there are no issues with water hammer. I had first purchased an Orbit brand timer that had more programming options, which was nice, but the valve on that one slammed shut, causing bad water hammer. I was afraid my pipes might burst. Well here's an eye-opener to all you 5-star reviewers who reviewed this after one year or less:The levers and the thread ring are still plastic on this one.So this one lasts two years... big deal!First to go will be the valve levers.They break and then you can use pliers for a couple of times before the rest crumbles away.
Most of us who use this type of device leave the hoses in place and this makes it so we don't have to walk back to the faucet so often... so it WILL be in the sun.

Here are certain parameters to take care about when using them. However, there are different types of garden water timers available in the market but, the basic concept is that there is usually a place to set the current time, a place to set the time you want your watering to begin, then opportunities to program in what days and for how long your want each watering station to work. You can always set manual override to use it outside programmed times, and you can turn it off during cold or rainy periods or during repairs.
The timings at which you water your plants is also of key importance. Watering plants early in the morning is always beneficial rather than watering in afternoons. This is because when the sun is sharp, water evaporation is high.

As far as a water timers go, a variety of options are available. Timers with a set time of five minutes that water the plants twice in a day are also available. Battery operated timers with a clock are present now a days. These can be connected to the soaking hose with the help of which the timer remains in the garden.
